$150,000 GALA CAMPAIGN GOAL!

We are in need of your financial support to keep us THRIVING!

Inspired by the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2013 and the lack of diversity Nigel Campbell and Chanel DaSilva witnessed throughout their artistic training and professional careers, Chanel and Nigel co-founded MOVE|NYC| in 2015—a Black-led nonprofit with the mission of cultivating greater diversity and equity in the dance field and beyond. MOVE|NYC|'s core program, the Young Professionals Program, is a tuition-free and year-round mentorship and college/conservatory prep program for NYC teenagers, ages 13-18, who demonstrate exceptional potential for a career in dance.

Now in our 8th year and with 4 graduating classes, MOVE|NYC| is proud to share that 100% of graduates have matriculated to some of the top colleges, conservatories, and professional training programs in the country, such as The Juilliard School, USC Kaufman School of Dance, S.U.N.Y. Purchase Conservatory of Dance, University of Michigan Musical Theater Program, and many others. Today, our dancers are beginning to enter the dance field and have joined iconic companies from all over the world, and in many cases, MOVE|NYC| alumni make up a significant demographic of the dancers of color in these institutions and companies. MOVE|NYC| is transforming the demographics of the field while simultaneously utilizing the arts as a catalyst for combating racial and social injustice. Dance Teacher Magazine's Spring 2020 cover feature of MOVE|NYC| entitled, "Changing the Face of Dance," beautifully highlights our mission and early yet impactful achievements that are actively and positively shifting the dance landscape.

Please know that all donations propel our mission and unparalleled offerings forward, allowing us to be proactive about our young artists' needs now and into the future.
